Lady Wildcats Volleyball Victory
Second Win of the Heart of America Athletic Conference
Score- 25-23, 26-24,25-23.
The Culver-Stockton women’s volleyball team faced Graceland University at home Tuesday and won its second Heart of America match, 3-0.
The Wildcats had some ups and downs and had to continuously cover the other teams tips going over the big block, but the C-SU defense was there to pick it up.
Head Coach Daniel Cabrera was beyond proud of the team after last night’s performance. “Today’s match was stunning. We persevered during the tough moments, and a big job well done to all the freshman who stepped up today. They played like veterans of the game, but that is because the senior leadership is above par. The team’s consistency and the work ethic is the best I’ve ever seen at Culver-Stockton, and we have had really good players in the past. We play by faith and not by sight and every single person did that today. We are tough and I would hate to play against a team like us.”
The Wildcats recorded its second-highest served aces of the season with twelve over the Yellowjackets. The Wildcats made a total of eight team blocks, and fourteen assist blocks.
Cabrera was especially pleased with the team defense. “Our identity is slowly rising as one of the best defensive teams in the nation. Our blocking today stopped Graceland’s offense entirely. We also broke Graceland’s defense with 12 aces. The team did exceptionally well today”.
The Women’s Volleyball team is now 7-6, overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Wildcats face Quincy University at home on September 18.
