What if a place on campus that once was crowded with families on weekends and students who would pop in and out during the week turned into a place where students could learn?
Here at Culver-Stockton, construction was done in the Cat’s Pause to turn the Wildcat Warehouse store into a Mac Lab. Here students will have the resources to use computers if they don’t have a computer of their own. “The space is great. We have more space for students to work and can potentially add more computers which will allow at a minimum the design and photography departments to expand,” says Professor Sally Kintz of the Art Department.
This space was added due to an overflow of classes in the old Mac Lab, especially 2D design, graphic design, and web design. Professor Kintz stated, “In the past, we’ve had to bring in tables and chairs and ask students to use their own computers. This is not ideal.”
“It’s an exciting time to be at Culver-Stockton College because this extra space can help launch a few more careers in the booming entrepreneurship and online content creation fields,” stated Professor Kintz.
Additionally, this space gives another place for students to do homework that they are not able to complete on their own computers. Jordan Yarbrough a senior majoring in sports management , stated, “I do my accounting homework in there because the computers in there function better than my computer.”
Austin Kirton, a sophomore minoring in 2D design, stated, “The new space is cool, I like how it gives more opportunity for more classes and it’s a good environment”.
Culver-Stockton is also looking to expand the television, audio/podcast area and add a 3D printer for the students.
