Those who are returning to Culver-Stockton (C-SC) for the Fall will notice a couple of changes in the housing prices. According to Angie Royal, the Vice President for Student Experience, “We are implementing a model where different areas of housing have different pricing”. Buildings and rooms with fewer amenities will be available at lower rates than those with more amenities. If you want to live in Sperry/Weldon it will cost $4,500, $4,750 for Johnson Community/Wood/Sorority, $5,000 for McDonald/Johnson Suite/Fraternity, $5,250 for Brown, $5,500 for stone and single room upcharge is $2,250. There is still only a $1,000 difference between the lowest-cost areas and the premium housing.
Royal stated that “The reason for the change is because it’s very common for colleges to raise prices”. There were a number of things taken into consideration including the room type, amenities and features, demand and availability.
Royal also stated, “This will give students the opportunity to choose housing areas that meet their personal preferences and allow students to have some more control over their cost of attendance”. Some students may want to be as cost-effective as possible and live in buildings with fewer amenities while others prefer more amenities.

This will allow you to tailor a financial package that works best for you and your family. Students have shown concern about the school’s choice to raise the prices. Brody Newton, a freshman majoring in business, asked, “How come students have to pay almost the same they would pay to live in a fraternity to live in Sperry?”
Some students could see the reasons behind the school’s choice. Alex Guion, a Junior majoring in Financ,e stated, “It’s good from a business standpoint but some students may not agree with it because they have to pay more out of pocket”.
