Are you someone who is involved in Greek life at Culver-Stockton College? If you are, you might have participated in this year’s annual Greek Week celebrations. Greek week is celebrated every year in the spring semester. It has become a cherished tradition within Greek life at C-SC. This week encourages those who are in Greek life to come together and promote Greek unity.
Greek week has been a long-lived celebration at C-SC that brings together members of different Greek organizations. This week is meant to be fun-filled with spirited activities and shared goals. It is also meant to emphasize the unity on campus and remind members of the value of friendships and service that every chapter upholds.
Culver-Stockton College has a very active Greek life on its campus. This includes four sororities and six fraternities. The Panhellenic sororities at C-SC are Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa, and Sigma Sigma Sigma. The fraternities at C-SC are Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Upsilon, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Tau Kappa Epsilon. Lastly, the National Pan-Hellenic Council sororities and fraternities are Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Delta Sigma Theta.
Each year, the activities involved in Greek Week vary. In the past, this week was planned by the Greek life coordinator. This year was different because the Panhellenic Council and the Interfraternity Council coordinated and executed this year’s activities.
This year’s activities were the bonfire, game night, Greek Olympics, an informational meeting, March Madness, Greek talent show, Greek unity party, and the Greek BBQ. Along with penny wars during lunch and dinner. For penny wars, all the sororities and fraternities competed against each other to raise as much money as they could in their bucket. The organization that won was able to donate the all of the money raised to their philanthropy. This week also included dress-up days for everyone to participate in.
To encourage the maximum amount of participation there points were assigned for how many members went to each event. The sororities competed against each other, as well as fraternities competed against each other. Whichever organization had the most points won was presented with a trophy. This year’s winners were Sigma Kappa and Delta Upsilon.
With the end of Greek Week students are left with good memories that will last a lifetime. This tradition continues to evolve and bring excitement to each organization and their members.
