On March 21st, the Eta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega invited students to showcase their athletic skills in the first Antoni Wrobel Sports Combine. Hosted in the Mabee Center Gym, the event echoed with cheers as students rotated through games, reflecting the love and remembrance of bringing others together through sports; all while honoring the life and legacy of Antoni ‘Toni’ Wrobel.
Wrobel tragically passed away in Fall of 2024.
The event, filled with fun, competition, brotherhood, and remembrance, featured football and basketball challenges, with participants earning the chance to win more than $200 in prizes.
Centered around Toni’s passion and love for sports, students took part in skill-based events, inspired by perseverance and determination, values Toni is known for on and off the field. The games began with a free-throw and three-point shooting competition, followed by an intense one-on-one matchup and a football target challenge. The event wrapped up with a half-court contest before concluding with a raffle.
Football and basketball were chosen as the activities to showcase due to Wrobels’ love for both sports.
“Toni loved football more than anything in life, and we wanted to bring as many people together to enjoy the sport he loved,” says Benda.
The money raised during the event goes directly toward the “Tony for the Future of Stars” Scholarship, which supports athletes within the Warsaw Eagles organization in Poland. The Warsaw Eagles are an American football club that competes at the highest level of the Polish Football League. Wrobel joined the club in 2018 and spent several years developing within the program, competing on both the junior and senior teams, before leaving for the United States in 2024.
The scholarship was created to honor the Wrobels’ legacy and provide opportunities for current and future players of the organization.
“They honor his name with this scholarship and were so glad to be able to send them over a $1,000!” says Benda.

Looking ahead, the chapter plans to continue expanding this event, adding more games and making it more inclusive for everyone. Over the past year, the chapter has already hosted several events in remembrance of Wrobel. As they reflect on the success, they emphasize “we plan to host this event every year, possibly incorporating pickleball and volleyball as well,” says Benda.
The Eta Omicron Chapter expresses it’s deepest love and remembrance for their brother, sharing, “We hope that participants take away that we loved our brother very much and there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for one another,” says Benda.
