“Wildcat Wire” and “Megaphone” Winners at Missouri College Media Association

Students, website draw accolades.

Both the digital Wildcat Wire student news site and the historic print newspaper The Megaphone were winners at the recent Missouri College Media Association (MCMA) Conference April 13th.  Writers, editors and journalists from both platforms were recognized, along with a third-place finish in the D3 division for total points.

Graduate Laura Johnson received the only first place award for her sports story on Esports.  The new digital student news site placed second in best website.  Here are all of the C-SC awards:

  • 2nd place Website:  The Wildcat Wire – Kim Doll, Megan Blickhan, Megan Ferry, Vanessa Bolen, editors
  • Honorable Mention Editorial Writing:  Jasmine Campbell “Advice:  How to Combat Ignorance During Black History Month” The Megaphone
  • Honorable Mention Feature Writing:  Vanessa Bolen “Culver-Stockton Ghosts” Wildcat Wire
  • Honorable Mention Entertainment Review:  Danielle Thurman:  “Bus Stop” Stops Crowd During Four-Day Run” The Megaphone

The staff is planning a 100th anniversary edition of The Megaphone to be published before commencement.
