Culver-Stockton College is welcoming a new sorority on campus. The Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Christian Thompson, announced Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is looking for women to join, in an email sent out on Jan. 14.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be the first sorority on Campus that is a part of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, commonly referred to as “The Divine Nine.” The National Pan-Hellenic Council is made up of nine historically African-American Greek letter organizations. This differs from the three sororities on Campus which are under the National Panhellenic Conference, an umbrella organization for 26 national sororities. Both the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the National Panhellenic Conference serve as a governing council on campuses for the sororities that are in their organization.

I’m very excited that the organization will be a great addition to the Culver-Stockton College family.

— Christian Thompson

Thompson mentioned that he was in contact with the regional director for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc since October 2018. After two years, they are now in their final stages of coming to Campus.

Many Greek affiliated students were wondering if there would be any additions to fraternity life with the new sorority coming to Campus. Thompson confirmed that there will be no new additions to fraternity life at this time.

Thompson did mention, “I’m very excited that the organization will be a great addition to the Culver-Stockton College family. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. goal of uncompromising commitment to communities through service, leadership, and empowerment aligns how the college wants students to grow and develop.”
