Vires Leads Mens Basketball to Victory with Buzzer Beater

CANTON-MO– The Culver-Stockton College men’s basketball team won at the buzzer 94-92 as they beat the Mount Mercy Mustangs at Joe Charles Field house on Wednesday.  Senior guard Mason Vires led the way with 24 points including his game-winning shot to give them the victory at home.

Five of the Wildcats ended the game in double digits. Michael Johnson helped the Wildcats with 23 of his own points and shooting 8-9 from the free throw line. Jim King had 18 points, Thaddeus Newby with 10, followed by Ray Adams who had 18.

Mount Mercy also had five players in double digits but that was not enough to keep the Wildcats from slipping away with the win.

Culver-Stockton College will tip off next at Central Methodist on February 22 at 4 PM.
