CANTON, Mo. — A new era of Culver-Stockton men’s basketball is underway.
The Wildcats enter the 2026-27 season with a new head coach, a new identity and an opportunity to build the program.
Jeremy Reigle takes over as Culver-Stockton’s new head men’s basketball coach, becoming the 26th head coach in the history of Wildcat men’s basketball.
Reigle brings extensive collegiate coaching experience to Canton. Before coming to Culver-Stockton, he spent seven seasons at Rockford University, where he compiled a 91-75 record and led the program to six consecutive conference tournament appearances.
Before Rockford, Reigle spent nine seasons at Presentation College in South Dakota. During his time there, he became the school’s all-time winningest coach and led Presentation to a regular-season conference championship.
A New Opportunity
For Reigle, the decision to come to Culver-Stockton was about more than simply taking over a basketball program.
The leadership on campus and the support from the Canton community stood out throughout the interview process.
What was it about Culver-Stockton that made you believe this was the right opportunity for you, and what made you want to take on this challenge?
“The leadership on campus and the community support really stood out in the interview process. The facilities, campus and ability to have athletic scholarship made this a very intriguing job. Everything has exceeded expectations since we arrived. There is a real hunger on campus and in the community to have a winning men’s basketball program, that is very exciting to us.”
That community support could play an important role as Reigle begins the process of building the program.
Culver-Stockton finished the 2025-26 season 5-23 overall and 2-18 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
Now, the Wildcats have a clean slate.
Establishing a New Identity
Reigle’s arrival gives the Wildcats a chance to establish a new identity, both on and off the court.
The first-year head coach has emphasized competing, playing unselfishly and establishing standards that can help create a sustainable program.
You’ve had success at the collegiate level before. What are the biggest things you want to change or establish with the Wildcats to build this program into a consistent contender in the Heart of America Athletic Conference?
“Our goal is to establish a culture and have standards that place character at the forefront of what we do. We have to recruit not only the right players from a skill and athleticism standpoint, we also have to recruit the right fit off the court. I think we have a great start on that with the guys that were retained and that have been brought in, in a shortened recruiting cycle.”
That focus on character and culture will be a major part of Reigle’s foundation at Culver-Stockton.
The Wildcats will have to develop chemistry quickly as returning players adjust to a new coaching staff and newcomers become familiar with the program.
Building Around Experience
While Reigle is new to the program, the Wildcats will have returning players who understand the challenges of playing in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
The returning group will be expected to provide leadership as the team learns Reigle’s system and develops chemistry with its newcomers.
Reigle believes the Wildcats have already made progress in establishing the type of roster and culture he wants.
With a shortened recruiting cycle, bringing in players who fit the program both on and off the court has been a priority.
How quickly those players adapt could be one of the biggest storylines heading into the season.
What Will Reigle Basketball Look Like?
For fans and students who have not seen one of Reigle’s teams play, this season will provide the first opportunity to see his vision take shape at Culver-Stockton.
For fans and students who may not know what a Jeremy Reigle basketball team looks like, what can they expect to see when they watch the Wildcats play this season?
“We will do our best to be a team that competes for each other every night. We pride ourselves in unselfish play and out competing our opponents.”
That philosophy could give the Wildcats a clear identity as they begin the season.
Defense, rebounding, ball movement and taking care of the basketball will also be important areas for Culver-Stockton.
With a new coach and a new system, consistency will be key.
A Fresh Start on the Hill
For Culver-Stockton, the 2026-27 season represents more than just the start of another basketball season.
It is the beginning of the Jeremy Reigle era.
Reigle arrives with collegiate coaching experience, but he also understands that building a successful program will take time, commitment and the right people.
The Wildcats will look to establish a new standard, develop their identity and compete throughout the season.
The community support that attracted Reigle to Canton could now become an important part of the program’s next chapter.
For a program looking to turn the page, the opportunity is clear.
New coach. New identity. New season.
The Wildcats are ready to get to work.
