Culver-Stockton College has determined that the coronavirus COVID-19 has impacted its ability to continue fall sports seasons, and has discontinued all athletic competitions effective December 1.

In an announcement posted on the Culver-Stockton College athletic website, Athletic Director Pat Atwell states “The health and safety of our student-athletes and all those connected Culver-Stockton athletics continues to be our number one priority.”

Primarily affected are the Wildcat basketball programs which are played indoors and with close contact, Atwell states.  “Our decisions have and will be guided by data, and based upon the trends and indicators over the past few days in our immediate region, it had become clear this difficult decision was necessary.”

“We felt it best to uphold our commitment to the Heart and play our November schedules.”  Atwell continues “We understand the duress and pressure that our athletic trainers, staff, dining services and faculty have experienced this semester.”

The Heart of America conference and institution officials are working to reschedule some of the cancelled events.  C-SC is hopeful that it can reschedule the few remaining football and soccer games.
