The Culver-Stockton College men’s volleyball team dropped its third straight match Saturday night, falling to NCAA Division I foe Quincy University in three sets at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill.

After dropping the first set 25-15, the Wildcats battled in the second set and had a chance to win the set at 27-26. However, a service error by Akeel Oxley tied the set again and the Hawks went on to win the game 30-28. QU won the third set 25-15.

The Culver-Stockton College men’s basketball team was outscored 56-30 in the second half of a 95-70 loss to MidAmerica Nazarene University Saturday afternoon at Bell Family Arena in Olathe, Kan.   Robert Fry II led three Wildcat players in double figures with 19 points. Fry added a team-high six assists, four rebounds and a steal. Javon Modester added 17 points, two assists and two steals, while Jim King chipped in with 14 markers and four caroms.

The Wildcats, now 4-5 overall and 3-5 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, is returns home for a two-game homestand beginning Wednesday, Jan. 27, against Benedictine College at Charles Field House. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Playing on back-to-back days in two different cities, the Culver-Stockton College women’s basketball team faced a tall task in its game with 18th-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University Saturday afternoon.

Senior guard Payton Curley poured in a career-high 26 points but she was the only player to reach double figures as the Wildcats fell to the Pioneers 77-53 in at the Bell Family Arena in Olathe, Kan.

C-SC, which lost to William Penn University 67-58 at home Friday afternoon, drops to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. The Wildcats are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at home against Benedictine College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

Madison Matney‘s first place finish in the weight throw highlighted the Culver-Stockton indoor track and field team’s season-opening meet at the Graceland Winter Series in Lamoni, Iowa, Friday afternoon.

Matney also placed in the shot put during the day, but it was the weight throw where she found the most success. Matney won the weight throw with a mark of 41 feet, 10 ½ inches. In the shot put, Matney placed sixth with a throw of 33 feet, 2 ½ inches. Freshman Donyall Sharp placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 34 feet, 1 ½ inches.

In the running events, Sarah Pribble placed third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.73 seconds, while Si’Arra Forrest was seventh in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.05 seconds.

In men’s action, Ahmed Barrow turned in the best finish with a fourth place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing the race in 9.01 seconds. Verlyn Johnson placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.50 seconds, while Xavier Reddock was seventh in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.78 seconds.

Maurice Silas led the throwers and jumpers with a sixth place finish in the long jump. Silas cleared 18 feet, 1 inch to place 6^th overall.

The Wildcats head back to Graceland next Saturday, Jan. 30, where they will compete in the Graceland Winter Series No. 3.
