C-SC student selected for the Red Cross Collegiate Leadership Program

One of Culver-Stockton’s women’s soccer players selected to 2019 class.

The American Red Cross was pleased to select Stefanie Carballo to attend and participate in their 2019 Collegiate Leadership Program.

A select group of students are chosen across the country between the American Red Cross, NCCAA, and the NAIA to join this program for the 2019 calendar year. With nearly 80 participating schools and no more than a dozen students selected to attend the program, it is an exceptional honor to receive. “To be selected for this group of people means everything to me because I have the opportunity to become a great leader that most people do not receive,” said Carballo. This program’s intent is to inspire the next generation of Red Cross volunteer leadership by exemplifying the five core values of the NAIA.

Carballo will be going to the Red Cross National headquarters in Washington, DC in June for two weeks.  The trip is all-expenses paid and she will have two weeks of leadership coaching.

I don’t really know what to expect because I have never done anything like this before. My plan is just to go into this open-minded, learn as much as I can, and hope to come out a better leader.

— Stefanie Carballo

Carballo, a sophomore at Culver-Stockton College, is getting the opportunity to gain experience for when she comes back.  As a women’s soccer player, she will be able to use what she learns from this experience on and off of the field. Receiving this training will allow Carballo to give back to her school and community by being a Red Cross Ambassador.

This is the 13th year of the program and the Red Cross is excited for the continuation and growth of the program in the coming months.
